Children should be taught the 'why' behind the methods
Students learn best when they understand not only how a method works, but why it works. Teaching therefore focuses on reasoning, helping students explain their thinking, justify their choices, and develop secure understanding that lasts beyond individual questions.
2
Learning Through Engagement
Learning is most effective when students are active participants in the process. Teaching is therefore designed to promote questioning, discussion, and reflection, so that understanding is constructed through engagement rather than passive instruction.

My Journey

2015 - 2018
Teaching Assistant
My First Steps into Education

My journey in education began by supporting two young boys with their mathematics while working in a caring role, where I saw first hand how the right support can transform confidence and engagement. Alongside this, I gained experience as a Teaching Assistant in a local school, developing a strong understanding of classroom learning, individual support, and how children think and learn. These early experiences shaped my passion for teaching and laid the foundations for my student centred, supportive approach to education.
2019 - 2021
Student - BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Qualified Teacher Status, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol)
Academic and Teaching Foundations

I completed a rigorous Mathematics degree with Qualified Teacher Status, combining in-depth study across pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics with extensive classroom practice. My training included algebra, calculus, modelling, statistics, problem solving and mathematical reasoning, alongside professional studies in pedagogy, assessment and curriculum design. The programme required over 120 days of school placements, where I developed strong classroom presence, lesson planning skills and the ability to adapt teaching to different learners. This blend of academic depth and real-world teaching experience has shaped my structured, enquiry-based and student-centred approach to tutoring.
2022 - 2023
Supply Teacher + Tutor
Supply Teaching and Tutoring Development

After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked as a supply mathematics teacher across schools in the South West, gaining experience with a wide range of year groups, abilities, and school environments. This developed my adaptability, classroom confidence, and behaviour management skills, as well as my ability to quickly build rapport with new students. Alongside this, I was building my tutoring portfolio with one of the UK’s most reputable tutoring companies, delivering one to one and small group sessions and refining my personalised, student centred teaching approach.
Secondary School Mathematics Teacher
I then worked in a secondary school setting, where I was responsible for planning and delivering structured lessons, assessing student progress, providing targeted support, and adapting teaching to meet diverse learning needs. I supported exam preparation, built intervention resources, and worked closely with colleagues to ensure students were confident, engaged, and making consistent progress. This year strengthened my curriculum knowledge, lesson design, and ability to support students both academically and emotionally.
2023 - 2024
School Teacher
Full Time Tutoring and Academic Research
From 2024, I moved into full time tutoring while completing my MSc in Education at the University of Bristol, achieving a high Merit. I supported over 24 students per week across GCSE, IGCSE and A Level, delivering highly structured and personalised lessons that built confidence and strong academic progress. I now tutor a large and growing portfolio of students and am in the process of publishing my academic research, with the aim of contributing to mathematics education and improving how reasoning and understanding are developed in the classroom. My work is grounded in both theory and practice to ensure every student receives high quality, evidence informed teaching.
